Research research research..

Oppinions:

Great horror films are profoundly unsettling. They linger in the subconscious like a nightmare or bad childhood memory. They chill you to the bone and make you look over your shoulder after experiencing the film. The 5 films I have chosen our ones that have affected me after watching them and have successfully scared me...

1. "The Grudge" 2004. Directed Takashi Shimizu.
2. "Psycho" 1960. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock.
3." Saw" 2004. Directed by James Wan
4. " Blair witch project" 1999. Directed by
5. "Jaws" 1975. Directed by Steven Spielberg.

This poster portrays the importance of colour and lighting to emphasize fear and tension. The dark tense red gives connotations of blood anger and gore.
The grotesque figure emphasizes the shock factor with the horrifying picture which intrigues the minds. We presume it will be a sci fi and for such a simple poster it raises many eyebrows. This is good for their publicity, as it will create conversation about the film and have more of a chance for more viewings.
Also the font is very effective, it is abstract and jaunted. This creates unsettlement to the picture and has a glowing effect.
Altogether I think this is a very successful advertisement for a horror film. And may want to do something similar.

Effective as it is a realistic picture creating connections between the watcher and the subject, it is dark creating the fear of the unknown and has an eerie picture of the misty light through the trees.
The contrast between the black and white works well with the blood red writing.

This is a psychologically disturbing picture using a type of optical illusion for the eyes. The awful scary smile is juxtaposed with the screaming eyes. This is daunting and psychotic.
The tag line is obvious and grotesque.
This f0or me is personally very effective as it is an eye catching picture therefore memorable and with the horrid tag line it makes me intrigued to know more about the film, therefore getting the film known and a topic of talk.
